Well, we had a little blip in the force while I upgraded to a new laptop. WiFi-N, built in bluetooth, 13.3". Now I just have to sell the other two. Simplify.

Last Friday we finally got to go up in the observation tower on the Penobscot Narrows bridge. The fact that the top is glassed in messes with the photos, but I guess that's better than a reputation for suicides.

The next two weeks are a weird time and our trip to Louisiana, Oct 29-Nov 2, seems like a dark journey to the past. I mean the focus of it is a trip to some rural cemeteries after dark, and a visit to a tiny chapel where a lifetime ago I helped to sing masses for black people too poor for the regular church. I hope the pump organ is still up in the choir loft. And there's that other thing in Lacombe, a reunion of the other kind of sisters. How weird will that be.

At least my pre-election anxiety is abating as it looks like we'll have a winner. Ideally, we'll return from the past to Maine and launch the future with a new president. Today I voted early at the Town Office in case there's any delay in our getting back to Maine. This Will Galison song for swing voters is great. I love this photo of Obama with his grandfather. Reminds the racists he's half white.
