February faded out of sight like the back end of a black dog down a camp road. We don't miss it. The PU took note of it only to change the mp3 download to Bruce Cockburn's Pacing the Cage, the ultimate February song.
The Heron had an unusually busy February, lots of people visiting their relatives over winter vacation. And the slow renovation of the garage into an office/room. Now the waters of March are roaring into the lake. I scrambled down to the brook that runs by the Russells' house at the end of the road to get this picture. Only the brown leaf in the foreground tells you that it really is a color picture. The lake still has a foot of ice on it but it's slick and no fun to play on. Instead I often take the pups out to MOFGA to run in the wide open spaces. I took this little movie of them running through icy puddles this afternoon.
A couple of dogs, a digital camera, a path to walk and I'm a happy camper. The new camera, a Nikon CoolPix 775, is only a 2.1 megapixel job, but it has optical zoom and a rechargeable battery and is small enough to fit in a jacket pocket. The resolution is fine for web photos. I'm writing this at the kitchen counter at the lake using my other techno upgrade, a laptop I bought through the MHIC, a Toshiba Satellite with a DVD/CD burner. Nice that I don't have to disappear into the basement to do some work. I'm thinking there will be much music sharing on our JazzFest trip. It's great how after the JazzFest schedule comes out, there is a flurry of communication, the sisters picking which weekend we'll go to the beach. Some good stuff on the days we'll be there. Henry Butler at last, and Arpa, and Ladysmith Black Mambazo. We'll be in the area April 24 to May 6. Let's make plans.
