Bronze irises at the Heron on a rainy day.
Lilac blooming in every dooryard. On Friday afternoon, the sky cleared out, we put in more sections of dock and gave Scout and Wing their first canoe experience, a brief ride before Melissa returned to gardening and I to theatering. Jeff Lang, an Aussie guitarist, complex blues. His own stuff too dark, but great covers of Little Richard tune and other American blues. It is so cool having a theater in town. Check out the rest of the schedule.
Bike riding reclaimed! Pam PC and I did a Unity to Belfast ride in a fundraiser for Inland Hospital. The return to Unity was by train with a lunch catered by Heritage House. The assigned route stuck to numbers, 220 and 3. Numbers bad. Back roads good. Cars bad. Cows good. We took the shunpike (appropriately the Webster's word of the day), quiet back roads some of them packed dirt, through Brooks and cut 4 miles off the distance and all that traffic. I've been reclaiming my other local routes with rides about 3 times a week. Feels just great. Most of the roads have names now. Just a few years ago, the corners had names, but not the roads.
