Happy 2002, Everyone! I think it's going to be a good one. We had a nice Christmas break. I took the week off for the first time since I was a teacher. Colleen, David and Melanie came up for a week. We played in the snow and ate many meals. The MOFGA fairgrounds are good for cross country skiing, as are the in town trails I've helped to make. When Colleen and I walked the new Sandy Stream loop trail, the only footprints ahead of us were deer, fox and rabbit. The dogs are good about staying on the trail and they add a frolic factor to a walk.
The only bummer thing this holiday was the wicked case of shingles I developed which made me lose some work/play days this week. I'm going back to work tomorrow still looking somewhat like a mutant Miss Piggy.
Melissa made a roast beast for Christmas dinner. A few days later David made a chicken andouille gumbo. Earlier in December, we celebrated the last night of Hannukah with Marge, Miff, and Elaine, and Shirley and Elinor. After dinner, we walked to the theater to hear the Androscoggin Chorale do a Charpentier mass and carols. The theater is very dear in our lives and we are waiting for John to start in on the 2002 schedule. I've seen some of the possible choices and they are very exciting. Windows and doors went in today on the garage-to-office conversion. I think I could be in there in a few weeks. I did another CD calendar for 2002, that is, a calendar that fits in a CD case. They are expensive to print, so if you didn't get one you can see it here. My photos, Melissa's recipes. The MP3 download this week is Rufus Wainwright's version of a Leonard Cohen song that was in the Shreck soundtrack.
My niece Melanie did the same thing I did which was to go download it as soon as the movie finished. Must be genetic. Here's what is on my Favs in 2001 Mix. If I had to pick only 10, they might be (in no special order):
