I'm depressed about the catatrophe in the Gulf. I can only hope that it will be some kind of Rachel Carson moment where the will for change begins. I am glad that Maine has no oil and no coal. Huge companies entice people to sacrifice themselves and their world for wages they cannot make any other way. People will sell their birth right every time.

Maine has sustainable forests and offshore wind. It's encouraging to see the plans for offshore wind farms. There is a bond issue on the ballot this Tuesday to fund the country's first offshore wind demo site as well as a lab at UMaine to build turbine parts from composite materials.
