Commonground pics So busy. Went to Commonground Fair each of the three days and partied here with the Commonground Family in the evenings. Cheryl T. was here and we dropped her off at film school in Rockport on Sunday. I sat on the birm around the ampitheater on Saturday and watched kids have a great time sliding.

I was listening to shape note singing in the folk arts tent and spotted these three Amish guys watching it from the other side. I'm told you're not supposed to take pictures of the Amish at least not of their faces. Vicky B explained that it has to do with community, that if one of them is singled out in a photo, it detracts from their sameness in the community. The Amish have been in Unity for about a year now. Who else would ride a bicycle wearing a straw hat? I am bothered by the long skirts and black bonnets that the women wear. Maybe that's another kind of burka. Peaceful is good; quaint does not impress me. I want to be sure that their children go to school until they are 16 like everyone else. I want to know that they pay taxes on their land and the things they sell. I want to know that members can freely leave when they want to.

Working full weeks as the company I work for changes its name from Maine Health Information Center to Onpoint Health Data, positioning itself as a national company. The company is technically a non-profit but is feeling more like a commercial outfit.

Here's the September Mix
