  • Yes, that is my car on MLK Day. Think of all the fun we'd miss if we had a garage.
  • In an NFL playoff game recently, an Arizona fan held up a sign that said "We are who we thought we were." And that's what a lot of people in the inauguration crowds seemed to be celebrating. I took the day off so as not to miss a minute of it. Aretha's hat, Michelle's green gloves, YoYo Ma pretending a cello worked in freezing temps, a million happy people smiling at each other. Marvelous. My one tearful moment: Mohammed Ali being led to his seat. I took a break before sunset to snowshoe a few miles on the lake. We enjoy our 2500 acre back yard. And we're having some serious winter. 16 below this morning and 25 below a week ago.
  • While I was basking in inauguration glow, evil forces were attacking all my websites. It took me a long time to realize that it wasn't a Google hack, but a virus on some computers who have ftp access to sites. The virus captures the site's password and sends it to evil people who put .htaccess files or little php files on the site and it's those files that interact with the search engines to send the person going to unitymaine.org to a virus site instead. So I've gotten much smarter about passwords and site monitoring. Since Google was blocking unitymaine.org, I bought unityme.org and switched to it. Because we sell theater tickets there, we could not afford to be down for any length of time. When we've been virus free for several days, I'll request that Google let us out of the timeout room.
