Drenched in snow, we shoed on this trail on Saturday, then on Sunday night we got another foot of snow.
In the white world, you have to find little swatches of color where you can.
It was kind of a fun week in our Life in a Northern Town sitcom. Back to back shows at the theater with John the theater manager away in Aruba. Bluesman Guy Davis on Wednesday, and Railroad Earth following a big snow storm on Thursday. It doesn't take much to amuse us in deep winter. When a man arrived at the Guy Davis show having ridden a bicycle from Brunswick (60 miles away), Bicycle Man became part of our lives for a couple of days. He rode a good bike, but the bike he rides in rural Ontario is a Pugsley. I could ride one of those on the lake in winter. A chili party at Lindsay and Kevin's (they bought the Mortland's house, an 1840's federal from the same era as the Copper Heron) had 17 varieties of chili including one by Lefty. I enjoyed meeting these two characters, Curt, a folk singer environmental educator, and Beth, an outdoor adventure instructor.
When I saw what the snow was doing to these birches, I know we would be spending some time without power. Today a CMP lineman walked down our driveway. Over his shoulders, he carried a pair of old-fashioned wooden snowshoes.
