![]() How is it that when you take a photo of a moon flower you get an image of "the force that through the green fuse drives the flower" as it pumps out light that you don't see except in the photo. ![]() Mark Mesaric owns a cedar mill in Unity. Melissa is his best customer. Our porches, decks, garden fencing come from him. Yesterday we bought this 9 by 12 cedar shed with "living edge" siding at a bargain price. Melissa knew I'd go for it when I saw the siding. We'll have to wait until after Commonground Fair next weekend to have it moved onsite. The fair takes over our lives for about a week. On the way to Mark's we passed a horse and buggy driven by a member of the new Amish community that is settling here. I have mixed feelings about this. I'll wait and see. ![]() If last week we had a cellphone moment, this week we had a farmers market networking moment. Within an hour at market, I met a student and rented her an apartment. There's kind of a completed circle thing going here. I watched Julie the student order lunch at the Judy's Kitchen booth and we talked there. The studio apartment she's now renting was Judy's office when the building housed the co-op. Political news and blog reading bring me great anxiety. I make my plans for the day after the election. A parade down Main Street in Unity OR a sick day when I take drugs. Judith Warner's blog recently referenced this essay by Jonathan Haidt which explains the moral psychology behind how What's Wrong With Kansas became What's Wrong With The United States. The polls are so depressing I feel I have to find small bits of news that cheer me up, like this one |
