Common Ground Fair was great as always. I did a little photo slide show on the Unity page. This was the Year of Heroic Adjustment for our Common Ground Family, the folks who were our guests at the Heron for five years of Common Ground weekends. They had to adjust to the new innkeeper, Diana, who doesn't like to let guests come in the kitchen, let alone take over the kitchen for days. We moved the nightly party out to the lake, twice at our house and once at Bill & Susan's. And we'll keep it that way, but Diana may relax enough to allow the Thursday night arrival party next year. Another set of guests-become-friends, Mike, Peggy, and Meredith Szeliga, stayed with us at the lake. Meredith is a sophomore at UMaine and she recently treated us to an Art Garfunkel concert there. Paul Simon was a saint to put up with him for as long as he did. Holly, Kate, and friend also dropped by. The Renovation Report. The porch is getting there. Here's an inside and outside view. It's wonderful to step out onto it and smell the cedar. We are also preparing to get a new roof on the house, preemptive reroofing. Do it before it leaks. It will be a classic green metal standing seam roof. The other renovation will soon begin. We closed on our new old building on Main Street today. It's the kind of building you buy, do the walk through, then have to go lie down.
At long last, DSL is here and working. So now I can work at home two days a week and really get work done. I set up a wireless network so that Melissa and I can use our laptops anywhere in the house. Most of you reading this have probably had this stuff for years, but for the units of Unity, Maine it's new and thrilling.
