Wednesday was the big day and it wasn't easy getting there. The bank seemed to find some new thing everyday that could hold everything up. Nerves on all sides were being stretched. Diana, the buyer, arrived on Saturday, and having both parties in town to deal with the bank and the lawyers helped. We had the "passing of the spatula" ritual after the sale. It is wonderful to wake up and go to sleep in the quiet of our own house at the lake where soon we'll start on some renovation. Part of the deck will become a glass/screen porch; underneath all screen. Hard wood floors will replace carpeting and parquet. We will renovate Zippy, my Honda Civic with 182k miles, into a Subaru Forester with a moonroof and an MP3 player, the 3 day weekend mobile.
The garden has finally produced the crowning glory of stir fry: the sugar snap pea. I sauté slivered almonds in sesame oil then add onions, Bob V's bell pepper and garlic, raisins, then Lois's zucchini, basil, Tony's, soy sauce, and freshly picked sugar snaps at the last minute. I put a small scoop of Molly's garlicky hummus on the plate and surround with stir fry. Colorful and mega yum.
